Outdoor gear, Shoes and footwear
We decided to cover Penmaen Hostel in warm and luxurious carpet and underlay. There’s nothing more cosy after a cold day at sea or out walking.
Please remove and leave all your outside footwear and wet gear by the door. If you haven’t bought slippers we welcome you with a complimentary pair. (Additional pairs can be purchased for £2.50).
Strictly no wet gear or any paddling/ sea sport gear inside the hostel.
There is a damp room (no dripping gear please) in the back room in the Kitchen. Any outdoor gear (dry or damp) can be left in here.
A de-humidifier and a small tumble dryer are there for your use to dry damp gear.
Do not hang wet, sodden gear anywhere inside the hostel.
Clean and Tidy
Penmaen has been professionally cleaned and tidy, please leave it as you found it. A Henry vacuum and cleaning materials are there for you to use. We can arrange a professional cleaning option if you prefer, which will be charged at £200.
Smoking and Vaping
Penmaen Hostel and its grounds are strictly no smoking or vaping areas. If you want to smoke or vape you will need to go to the other side of the black entrance gate. There is a zero smoking and Vaping tolerance.
Toilets
The septic tank system is very very old. It is really important that nothing goes down the loo, toilet expect what you ate or drank ! Poop and peeped only!
All toilet paper, tissues, wet wipes, feminine hygiene products must be disposed of in the sanitary bin provided. Blockages happen too easily and are expensive to sort out, we would also have to close the hostel until it was fixed.
Electricity
Electric is charged and payable cash onsite.
You will be charged usage for the amount used and any additional can be purchased in units of £5 or £10 metre credits. Allowing the electricity to run down to zero will activate the super bright emergency lights come on.
Please avoid leaving anything electrical switched on when you are not there. Please stay at the hostel if you start a wash in the washing machine, switch on the oven or hob etc. For safety, do not leave these appliances switched on and unattended.
Bedding
When the weather allows we dry all linen and bed linen outside in the fresh air and let nature be our ironing board. Your bed linen may look a little crumpled as we avoid using the tumble dryer and ironing whenever possible. Please be assured it is always freshly laundered and clean.
Lockers
There are lockers provided for the security of your personal items. Keys are available for a £10 deposit, fully returnable upon return of the key. Lost or damaged keys will forfeit the deposit.
Eye masks and ear plugs
We supply an honesty box for these items. Please respect this. Ear plugs are 50p a set, eye masks are £1.50 each. Additional slippers are £2.50 each.
